Top College Football Games in September 2009Late Summer Vacation Ideas for NCAA Sports Fans in the Northeast
True college football fans can't wait for the season to start. Want to get in on the action early? Consider some of these early season games.
College students all over are preparing for the upcoming school year. Many football players however are beginning to settle in and practice for the 2009-2010 season. Their early arrival is extremely important as many college football games are held within the first couple of weeks of the start of school. Early season games make a perfect late summer vacation for the NCAA sports fans. Sometimes early games can be somewhat boring (that is not a good matchup), yet other times it can be a really great game. Following are a few early games with promise: Cincinnati at Rutgers on Monday, September 7 at 4:00 p.m.Both ranked by ESPN in the Top Ten for the Big East 2008, this game promises to be a pretty good start to the season. Other things to do around campus include golfing at Rutgers University Golf Course or taking a campus tour. The city also has a minor league team, the Newark Bears, who have a game scheduled for both Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6. Hotels in the area include the Hyatt Regency New Brunswick, the Heldrich Hotel and Spa, and the Embassy Suites Piscataway. In addition, one can visit New York City (only a 1/2 hour or so away), or Philadephia (less than an hour away). Missouri vs. Illinois on Saturday, September 5 at 2:40 p.m.One of the great Midwest rivalries is that of the Fighting Illini and the University of Missouri Tigers. Known as the Arch Rivalry, the two football teams will face off this year at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:40 p.m. Places to visit while in St. Louis include the Gateway Arch, Saint Louis Zoo and the Missouri Botanical Gardens. Hotels near the stadium include the Renaissance St. Louis, Holiday Inn Select and the Hilton at the Ballpark. USC at Ohio State on Saturday, September 12 at 8:00 p.m.This is absolutely one of the best of the first season games in the entire NCAA. The University of Southern California (ranked #3 by the Associated Press), and Ohio State (ranked # 9 by the Associated Press) will meet early in the season on Saturday, September 12 at Ohio State University. While in Columbus one can enjoy various other activities such as a visit to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, the Center of Science and Industry or the Jack Nicklaus Museum. The 2009-2010 college football season promises to be a competitive one. Get in on the action early by attending one of these early season games.
