Residents and visitors can enjoy various fun activities on farms throughout Wisconsin this fall season.
Fall in Wisconsin brings about beautiful autumn colors, apple harvests and a host of fun activities. In the months of September and October, many local farmers will celebrate the fall harvest with events such as pumpkin patches, petting zoos and hayrides. Corn mazes are another fall favorite in Wisconsin. To make it through the maze, guests are either given clues or must earn clues to help them navigate through the maze. Some farms offer smaller mazes for younger children and larger mazes for older youth and adults. Those looking for more of a challenge should tackle the maze after dark, (but don't forget to bring flashlights). Fall Events in Southern WisconsinCorn mazes, farm animals and hayrides are just a few of the activities taking place on Schuster's Playtime Farm this fall. This year Schusters has partnered with Gilda's Club of Madison, a non-profit cancer support group. As a result, all of the proceeds from the corn maze will go to Gilda's Club. From 9/20-10/31, Schusters will be open on weekdays from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m., Friday and Saturdays from 10 a.m. -10 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. The cost for admission to the small maze is $2, and the large $6. Schusters is located in Deerfield just southeast of Madison. Treinen Farm in Lodi (about 35 miles north of Madison) says they have the largest corn maze in Wisconsin. Consequently, the maze has been a favorite in Wisconsin for many years. Before tackling the maze, guests can also enjoy a fun house, pumpkin patch, barnyard animals and tasty food. The cost for admission to the Treinen maze is $8 for adults, and $6 for children. Fall guests can visit the farm on Fridays from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m., Saturdays 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Fall Events in Northern WisconsinResidents and visitors to the LaCrosse area will enjoy a visit to the Hidden Trails Corn Maze. In addition to the extremely challenging maze, guests can enjoy rides in a covered wagon, pumpkin picking, and a petting zoo. The maze is open through November 2. Hours are Mon.-Thu. from 1 p.m. -6 p.m., Fri. and Sat. from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Sun. from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Admission fees are $7 for adults and $4 for children. Beginning in October, many of these farms will also host Halloween activities such as haunted hayrides, mazes and barns.
