Several college football championship games and holiday bowls will be hosted at arenas and stadiums throughout the northeast USA.

As the college football season comes to a close, many are looking forward to conference championship games and holiday bowls. These events will be held sometime between the first of December and the first of January.

The Rose Bowl held on New Year's Day in Pasadena, California, and the Fed Ex BCS Championship game are probably the most well known of all of the holiday games. However, there are many other college football events taking place in the northeast during and around the holiday season.

Holiday College Football Games in the Midwest

  • The Marathon MAC Football Championship - The Mid-American Conference Champions will be determined at Ford Field in Detroit on Friday, December 5 when the east (Buffalo) faces the west (to be determined) in the Marathon MAC Football Championship. If looking for lodging near the stadium, consider the Holiday Inn Express, Hilton Garden Inn or Courtyard by Marriott in downtown Detroit. These hotels are within walking distance of Ford Field.
  • Dr. Pepper Big 12 Championship - Kansas City, MO will host the 2008 Dr. Pepper Big 12 Championship. Held on Saturday, December 6, the University of Missouri Tigers will face the Big 12 South Division Champions at Arrowhead Stadium. Visitors can also enjoy many pre-game and post-game events in the Kansas City area. There is both a Sheraton and a Holiday Inn in close proximity to the stadium.
  • Motor City Bowl - Over the last couple of years teams in the MAC (Mid-American Conference) have gained much respect by defeating teams in the Big 12, Big Ten and Big East Conferences. The Motor City Bowl will bring together the MAC (#1) against the Big Ten (#7). The event will take place at Ford Field on December 26.

Holiday College Bowls on the East Coast

  • The Eagle Bank Bowl - Attend the inaugural game of the Eagle Bank Bowl on December 20 in Washington, D.C. Held at the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium, a team from the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) will face off with Navy. The RFK stadium is located near Capitol Hill and Union Station, thus, there are many hotels within the vicinity.
  • Big East Finals - The University of Connecticut Huskies will face the University of Pittsburgh Panthers on Saturday, December 6 at Rentschler Field in Hartford, CT. The winner of the game will be crowned the Big East College Football Champions, 2008. The closest hotels to the stadium are the Holiday Inn and Econo Lodge East Hartford.

Tickets are still available for most of these events; however, to ensure good seats and accommodations close to the stadium, one should begin making plans and arrangements as soon as possible.
